Mayabeque, Cuba: The Basic Pharmacy Unit in San Nicolás maintains the messenger service for those elderly patients who require the consumption of medicines to avoid their attendance at the sales place.

According to the director of Pharmacy and Optics in the territory, Lisney Quintero Fuentes, this modality as a result of the health situation of Covid-19 is established for vulnerable groups.

This service has satisfactory results and good acceptance by the population.

The objective is to guarantee the maximum protection to the elderly to avoid crowds in pharmaceutical establishments.

More than 260 workers from the culture and education sector have been reintegrated into these tasks of messaging food and medicines to satisfy more than 80 percent of the older adult population of the municipality and its settlements.
