As of July 1st, 2021, the convertible peso ceases to be accepted in stores.

Havana, Cuba: The State Council analyzed that the epidemiological situation in the country caused by Covid-19 has caused there to be people who have not been able to exchange convertible pesos in their possession.

Correspondingly, it approved a decree-law in order to extend for 180 days, counted from its entry into force, the period for natural persons to go to the selected bank branches to exchange the convertible peso into cash in their possession for Cuban pesos, with the exchange rate of twenty-four Cuban pesos for one convertible peso.

The Minister President of the Central Bank of Cuba is in charge of publicizing the bank branches chosen for this.

Likewise, she specifies that, from the 1st. of July 2021, the convertible peso ceases to be accepted in stores and establishments previously authorized to receive them, due to the expiration of the period established in article 3, section 2 of decree-law 17 “On the Implementation of the Ordering process”, of the November 24, 2020.
