Mayabeque, Cuba: The agriculture cooperatives in San Nicolás have always been relevant to the development of the municipality. Today their importance is multiplied by being the main entities responsible for the production of food, which the country needs so much, urged on strategies to reduce imports and achieve food sovereignty.

The Camilo Cienfuegos Cooperative of Credits and Services (CCS), the Antonio Maceo and the Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA) Congreso Campesino en Armas, where besides managing to over comply with the planting plans, experiment with strategies for the development of the territory.
According to the president of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in the municipality, Dailín Fernández González, training, efficiency in each area, gender equity and care for the environment are essential.
