Havana, Cuba: Cuban health authorities notified this Wednesday 2,970 new people infected with SARS-CoV-2, the cause of Covid-19, and 14 deaths in the last hours due to complications from the disease, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.

At a press conference, Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) reported that in this way, the Caribbean nation accumulates 190,993 patients diagnosed with the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, and 1,284 fatalities.

There were 42,794 admitted patients, of them 9,636 suspects, 17,656 under surveillance, and 15,502 confirmed.

Yesterday, 34,585 samples were processed in the country’s molecular biology laboratories, and as a result 2,970 infections to COVID-19 were confirmed.

The total of samples studied since the beginning of the pandemic in Cuba is 5,113,084, for a total of positive samples of 190,993 (3.7%).

Of the total confirmed cases, 2,897 were autochthonous cases and 74 imported, while 2,768 (93.2%) were contact with confirmed cases for a cumulative 181,745 (95.1%).

Meanwhile, 73 (2.5%) have a source of infection abroad and there are 8,629 (4.5%). Work is being done to specify the source of infection for 129 patients, accumulating 619.

Similarly, 607 (20.4%) patients were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.

By age group: 497 under 20 years, in pediatric ages 447 positive cases. 35 children under one year of age were confirmed, of them 12 under six months and two newborns. Five seriously ill patients and one critical patient remain in this age group.

From 20 to 39 years, 943 patients, from 40 to 59 years 1011 cases and from 60 years or more, 519 positive cases. Of the female sex 1495 and of the male sex 1475.

Of the 190 thousand 993 patients diagnosed with the disease, 15 thousand 502 remain hospitalized, of them 15 thousand 313 (98.7%) with stable clinical evolution. There are 1,284 deaths (14 in the day), two evacuees, 54 returned to their countries, on the day there were 1,889 discharges, and 174,151 recovered patients (91.1%) accumulate. 189 confirmed patients are treated in intensive care, f 77 critical and 112 in serious condition.

Until June 29, 190 countries and 30 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 182 million 401 thousand 970 (+ 330 thousand 657) with 11 million 493 thousand 228 active cases and 3 million 949 thousand 317 deaths (+ 6 thousand 718) for a fatality of 2.17 (=).

In the region of the Americas, 73 million 176 thousand 580 confirmed cases (+ 113 thousand 557) are reported, 40.11% of the total cases reported in the world, with 7 million 507 thousand 645 active cases and 1 million 914 thousand 438 deaths (+ 2,819) for a fatality of 2.62 (=).
