Havana: Cuba today applies a new plan of measures in the face of the complex epidemiological situation due to Covid-19, which forced the declaration of the community transmission phase throughout the country the day before, Prensa Latina publishes.
According to the Minister of Public Health of the Caribbean nation, José Angel Portal, it is the first time in the course of the epidemic that this state is declared, which entails the application of actions aimed at cutting the chain of infections, advancing in health intervention and reduce mobility as much as possible.
For this reason, the government working group to confront the pandemic, headed by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel; and the prime minister, Manuel Marrero, ordered, among other matters, the increase of sanitary control at the entry points to the national territory.
Likewise, the plan establishes the strengthening of epidemiological surveillance, and in particular of active research, as a way to help limit the increase in the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the disease.
It also proposes tasks aimed at guaranteeing the medical insurance of the sick and the process of health intervention with Cuban vaccine candidates, which will help to contain the transmission of Covid-19, and reduce the number of people who reach serious stages, as well as the number of deaths.
The significant decrease in the mobility of people is another important aspect of the planned actions, without affecting the main activities of production and services.
The Cuban authorities indicated that working groups will support the work in the territories with a more complex situation, but that each of them will adapt the plan to their needs and characteristics.
