Colombian Communes Party calls for lifting the blockade on Cuba.

Colombia: The Communes Party, which brings together the demobilized members of the guerrilla Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (Farc-EP), today called for the end of the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba 60 years ago, Prensa Latina reports.

?Concern for the well-being of the Cuban people must translate into demanding the lifting of the criminal blockade. Our solidarity and gratitude with the Island, with the people of Martí?, that political force published on his Twitter profile.

The call to cease this hostile and unilateral policy is a reaction to the media campaign against the Caribbean nation regarding the demonstrations registered the day before in various towns on the island, the motives of which are manipulated for political purposes.

Havana identified as organizers and promoters of that campaign the United States government and anti-Cuban organizations, which take advantage of the economic crisis generated by the embargo and the negative impact of Covid-19 to fuel civil disobedience and call for violent confrontation.

However, recalled the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, they deliberately ignore the efforts of the people and government to overcome these difficulties.

Senator for Commons Sandra Ramírez recalled that in Colombia more than 500 people die every day from Covid-19 and tens of thousands of new positive cases of the disease are registered.

However, he said, the government of President Iván Duque, whom he called cynical, believes it has the authority to judge the handling of the pandemic in Cuba, where the number of deaths is 1,579 since the first cases of the disease in March 2020.
