A statement from the Associations of Cuban Residents in Canada emphasizes that this effort will be “without renouncing sovereignty and dignity.”
We have witnessed a campaign gestated on social networks where it tries to present a distorted and unreal image of Cuba, while encouraging subversive acts and social disobedience in order to provoke the destabilization of the country, they stressed.
This false campaign, they assured, opportunistically seeks to discredit the Cuban government in handling the difficult epidemiological situation created by the outbreak that is taking place on the island today.
In relation to the actions promoted by groups financed from the United States, the statement said, it is necessary to emphasize that in Cuba there are clear and peaceful mechanisms to discuss differences and listen to those who have concerns without resorting to violence and vandalism.
These acts, the Cubans residing in Canada underlined, respond to the manipulation of those who hope to create an unsustainable situation that favors a military intervention by the United States.
We all know that lifting the blockade is the only thing this country could do if it is really concerned about the well-being of the Cuban people, they stressed.
