Mayabeque, Cuba: The drivers of the San José de Las Lajas Transportation Base Business Unit began today to provide limited public service in the capital of Mayabeque to support the restart of the 2020-2021 school year in technical-professional and university education and as part of the new measures of the Temporary Working Group.

The director of the UEB, Carlos Alberto Gómez Rodríguez, reported on the reestablishment of routes to five population settlements with opening and closing at scheduled times.

At first, routes 642 to the Zenea community will operate, 675 to Pedro Pí, 897 to Nazareno, 659 to Charca and 889 to Babiney, the only itinerary with another trip included, in addition to the opening and closing.

The Diana buses in the current stage will transport 100 percent of the seating capacity and only 15 standing passengers and will not include the transfer of people to the Catalina-Aguirre and San José-Santa Bárbara routes.

Gómez Rodríguez called on the responsibility of the residents of San José de las Lajas with respect to prioritizing the transportation of students, families and teaching staff and to maintain strict compliance with the measures imposed to prevent Covid-19.

The public transport service will be gradually restored depending on the epidemiological situation of Mayabeque’s capital and the availability of the UEB vehicle fleet.
