Agroecological garden.

Mayabeque, Cuba: In the agroecological garden of the Credit and Service Agriculture Cooperative (CPA) Ciro Redondo, from Batabanó, the planting of vegetables and the diversification of crops in the current cold season have priority.

Obtaining healthy food, free of chemicals, is the challenge of the workers who tend the hectares, located in the town of Saya in this municipality.

In this small portion of land, 0.2 tons of short-cycle foods are delivered every month, among which are: eggplant, beans, carrots, lettuce, chard and others.

The weather conditions at this time of year benefit the development of these crops, for this reason one of the objectives of the head of the orchard, Jesús Reyes, is to increase the yields to expand its commercialization in the municipal fairs in the new normality.

These products are among the preferences of the inhabitants of this settlement and are the driving force behind agroecological agriculture in the territory where, with a lower cost of inputs, they obtain healthy food.

In the demarcation they have family gardens on 30 farms and the use of organic fertilizers and biological means is evident, in addition, thanks to this they obtain high quality fruits, vegetables and condiments.
