Havana, Cuba: The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, recalled today the 150 years of the execution of eight medical students, one of the most tragic dates in the country’s history, Prensa Latina publishes.

In his Twitter account, the head of state and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) recalled the words of the National Hero José Martí when he expressed: “Corpses beloved those that one day, you were dreaming of my homeland.” .

Next, he pointed out that “it is 150 years since the atrocious crime of November 27, 1871. Against the hatred that tried and shot 8 innocent young men, we are walking today.”

The president led this Saturday morning along with other government leaders, the PCC and youth and student organizations, the march of thousands of university students who, like every November 27, came to pay tribute to the victims of the horrendous crime committed by the Spanish colonial regime.

Those events took place in the midst of tensions due to the growing defeats of the army of the colonial metropolis at the hands of the leaders of the war of independence, and the climate of terror that Spain created in response to the nation’s fields and cities.
