Mayabeque, Cuba: In the midst of the joy that reigns among the residents of Madruga for leaving 2021 behind and having controlled the Covid-19 pandemic, the issue of high prices causes discomfort and indignation.
Many complain about the little doing of state inspectors in this regard:
“Well, the inspectors have their functions well defined; now what they do is something quite different, because they do not review the cost of the products. The rice, the beans, everything is very expensive and many people are selling illegally and nothing happens, but they always walk with their bag full ?.
“They work, but no, it is not seen, if we go to the prices they do not correspond to the salary that a state worker earns today.”
It is clear that the most effective solution to the inflation issue that prevails in Cuban society today is associated with the increase in supplies from producing more and better.
The country’s leadership is working on this, but for now the actions of the competent authorities must be more energetic in confronting illegalities. This is the opinion of the people:
“I think that at this time they have to be a little more demanding on the subject, because in all places they are very high and nothing happens.”
“Not to mention the fines, they see nothing more than those who pay the State, the self-employed who contribute, however those who are out there illegally are not fined by the inspectors.”
Recently in the Plenary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, which continues the Eighth Congress, conscience was called in a moment of celebration and joy of our people, to be in solidarity and not profit by taking advantage of the limitations that the country faces.
But those with deaf ears and tailored hoarders and resellers suits must feel social rejection, the force of popular control and above all the weight of the law.
