Mayabeque, Cuba: The challenge of increasing food production becomes a primary task for the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in San Nicolás, despite the difficult conditions due to the pandemic and the intensification of the economic and financial blockade of the United States.
Hence the insistence for agriculture to become the main source of food, because as it manages to satisfy the needs of the locals, it also promotes a development of the sector and a greater chain.
According to the coordinator of the CDRs in the territory, Olga Elena Colomé Suárez, this year they exceeded the more than 100 patios incorporated into the Cultiva Tu Pedacito Movement, through which citizens were called to plant in the spaces available in homes, patios and plots.
The objective is to increase activities in the Local Development Program and to emphasize food production.
