My Roots Day pays tribute to Celina González.

Mayabeque, Cuba: The first day of the Mis Raíces cultural event, dedicated to honoring the queen of country music, Celina González, on the 94th anniversary of her birth began on March 15.

In the Santa Barbara chapel, this well-deserved recognition began with a masterful performance of her song Que Viva Changó, performed by María Victoria Rodríguez, faithful defender of Celina’s legacy and of the guajira (country) music.

The reverence to the author of the iconic song Yo soy el punto cubano concluded with an artistic gala where outstanding performers performed, accompanied by the children who are members of the children’s improvisation workshops.

On the second day, her birthday day, they will present Celina’s record catalogue, in charge of the Recordings and Musical Editions of Cuba (EGREM) company, and in the afternoon the children and young people from the improvisation workshops will perform in the central park of Güines.

The Mis Raíces cultural event will conclude at night with a concert by María Victoria Rodríguez and a group of invited artists in the central park of Güines.
