The CPA 17 de Mayo, from Quivicán, has around 60 rabbits.

Mayabeque, Cuba: In tune with the times and in response to the measures dictated by the country’s top leadership, the 17 de Mayo Agricultural Production Cooperative, from Quivicán, promotes its livestock program in order to add more food.

Based on the use of protein plants as fundamental nutrients and the implementation of the Sierra Maestra project promoted by the Commander in Chief, the unit registers an increase in all its areas, not only in large cattle.

Their agricultural chief, Nelson Reyes Díaz, explained that they have 193 head of cattle, 180 quail and baby rabbits.

Despite the difficult situation with the supply of feed, the 13 workers who operate in the livestock module are looking for alternatives to give the animals the necessary treatment.

Their productions are not only used for the self-sufficiency of the cooperative members, they are also available to the local residents.

With a young group, this productive form, mostly cultivating sugar cane, produces food for the people, the objective for which it was established.
