Cuba reports this Tuesday 679 new cases of Covid-19.

Havana, Cuba: The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported this Tuesday 679 new positive cases of Covid-19, one deceased patient and 755 medical discharges, Radio Habana Cuba reports.

At midnight yesterday, March 21, a total of 8,500 patients were admitted, 5,137 suspected, 29 under surveillance, and 3,334 confirmed active.

For COVID-19, a total of 8,740 samples were taken for surveillance that day, with 679 being positive. The country has accumulated 13,329,129 samples and 1,082,880 positives.

Of the total cases (679): 661 were contacts of confirmed cases; 4 with a foreign source of infection; 14 with no specified source of infection. Of the 679 diagnosed cases, 391 were female and 288 male.

2.2% (15) of the 679 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 145,728, which represents 13.5% of those confirmed to date.

The 679 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years old (176), 20 to 39 years old (177), 40 to 59 years old (176), 60 and over (150).

Of the 1 million 082 thousand 880 patients diagnosed with the disease, 3 thousand 334 remain hospitalized, of them 3 thousand 314 with stable clinical evolution. 20 confirmed patients are treated in intensive care, of which 4 are critical and 16 are seriously ill.

There are 8,508 deaths (1 on the day), a lethality of 0.79% vs 1.29% in the world and 1.78% in the Americas.

In the last 24 hours there were 755 discharges, accumulated 1 million 070 thousand 979 recovered patients (98.9%); two evacuated, 57 returned to their countries.

Until March 21, 191 countries and 42 territories with cases of COVID-19 are reported in the world, rising to 471 million 706 thousand 942 the number of confirmed (+ 1 million 278 thousand 486) with respect to the previous report with 57 million 752 thousand 653 active cases and 6 million 103 thousand 165 deaths (+ 3 thousand 669) for a lethality of 1.29% (-0.01).

In the region of the Americas, 151 million 743 thousand 717 confirmed cases (+ 54 thousand 297) are reported, 32.2% of the total cases reported in the world, with 20 million 291 thousand 837 active cases and 2 million 703 thousand 803 deceased (+ 675) for a lethality of 1.78% (=).
