Havana, Cuba: At midnight yesterday, March 22, a total of 8,922 patients were admitted, 5,460 suspected, 29 under surveillance, and 3,433 confirmed active.

For COVID-19, a total of 11,227 samples were carried out for surveillance on the day, with 811 being positive. The country has accumulated 13,340,356 samples carried out and 1,083,691 positives.

Of the total cases (811): 771 were contacts of confirmed cases; 8 with a foreign source of infection; 32 with no specified source of infection. Of the 811 diagnosed cases, 446 were female and 365 male.

3.0% (24) of the 811 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 145,752, which represents 13.4% of those confirmed to date.

The 811 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years old (204), 20 to 39 years old (186), 40 to 59 years old (227), 60 and over (194).

There are 8,508 deaths (no deaths are reported on the day), lethality of 0.79% vs 1.29% in the world and 1.78% in the Americas; two evacuated and 57 returned to their countries. On the day there were 712 discharges, 1 million 071 thousand 691 recovered patients (98.9%) accumulate. 18 confirmed patients are treated in intensive care, of which 5 are critical and 13 are seriously ill.
