Mayabeque, Cuba: With a worthy tribute to José Antonio Manso, who for 28 years assumed the direction of Radio Mayabeque, began the act of delivery and reception to those who will continue his legacy.

The moment was emotional for the collective of the plant; leading the guild will be now María del Carmen Hernández, along with deputy director Maikel Simón and head of programming Ileana Hernández Goicochea.

José Antonio Manso or Pepín, as many affectionately name him, is pleased to know the guaranteed relief, because as José Martí would say: “The true man does not look on which side lives better, but on which side duty is.”

Now he will not be the director, but he will continue to retrace the corridors of the radio at the head of the program Aqui en Familia, which is why it is a source of pride for the media workers to have his suggestions and his sense of belonging.

The president of the Union of Cuban Journalists (Upec) in Mayabeque, Elvis Gil Domínguez, expressed that this well-deserved recognition praises the work of this courageous human being who taught so much to the new generations.

The pioneer Brenda Ross Malagón, from the Las Primeras Manos Project, led by Irela Milián, enlivened the moment with a monologue and a song dedicated to Fidel.
