Cuba prioritizes epidemiological study and low mobility in the face of Covid-19.

Havana: Western and central Cuba, with the highest incidence rate of Covid-19, today prioritize the epidemiological survey and the reduction of mobility as the main measures in dealing with the disease, Prensa Latina publishes.

During the most recent meeting of the temporary working group to evaluate the behavior of the pandemic in the country, the president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, warned about the importance of determining the source of infection of positive cases through an exhaustive study of transmission chains.

In the last 15 days, ten provinces have reported transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the cause of the pandemic, but Ciego de Ávila presents the most complex epidemiological situation with 42.8 percent of the cases confirmed in the last day.

According to the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, from August 25 to date, that central province has reported 206 infections that is why it has the highest incidence rate in the nation: 45.07 for each 100 thousand inhabitants.

For its part, Havana also maintains a tense epidemiological situation and the authorities are studying mechanisms to further reduce mobility and restrict traffic between municipalities.

During a meeting of the capital government the day before, the use of computer applications to manage the physical presence of people in shopping centers was analyzed.

Also, officials focus on actions to reduce crowds and the flow of people in banks.

In the last 24 hours, the country exceeded half a million PCR tests carried out in the national territory since the beginning of the disease last March.
