Mayabeque, Cuba: The workers of La Demajagua Base Business Unit (UEB), dedicated to the fattening of turkeys, located in San Nicolás, successfully carry out the current breeding, to contribute to the Economic and Social Strategy.

According to the veterinarian, Juan Olides Hernández, so far they have viabilities greater than 96 percent, which translates into efficiency.

The breeding began on December 22, 2020 and in the entity they have 23,400 one-day-old turkeys.

“Producing the land as much as possible to achieve self-sufficiency is one of the centre’s priorities, in addition to raising cattle and pigs”, Olides Hernández said.

The objective is to reduce expenses for importing food products into the country.
