Havana: The national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported this Thursday four deaths and 689 positive samples for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated of 64 thousand 414 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation, Radio Habana Cuba reports.
During his usual press conference, the specialist reported that at midnight yesterday 21,619 patients were admitted, of them 3,681 suspects, 14,342 in epidemiological surveillance and 3,596 confirmed.
Durán explained that the country carried out 19 thousand 537 samples the day before for a cumulative of 2 million 730 thousand 305 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of 689 patients, 289 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 658 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 10 have a source of infection abroad and in 21 people the source of infection is unknown. Autochthonous 759 patients were reported.
Regarding the age groups, 104 patients were diagnosed under 19 years of age and in pediatric ages. In the ages of 19 to 39 years, 221 cases were confirmed, between 40 and 59 years about 261 cases and 103 people older than 60 years.
The positive cases belong to Pinar del Río 16, Artemisa 28, La Habana 446, Mayabeque 15, Matanzas 9, Cienfuegos 7,Villa Clara 9, Sancti Spíritus 9, Ciego de Ávila 8, Camagüey 20, Las Tunas 4, Granma 36, Holguín 19, Santiago de Cuba 47 y Guantánamo 16;
He specified that, of the 64,414 patients diagnosed with the disease since the beginning of it, 3,596 confirmed hospitalizations, of them 3,536 with stable clinical evolution. 384 deaths are reported (4 in the last day) for a fatality of 0.61. The two evacuees remain, 54 returnees and 60,378 recovered patients accumulate (828 discharges of the day). 33 patients in critical condition and 27 patients in serious condition are reported.
Until March 17, 190 countries with cases of COVID-19 are reported, there are 121 million 492 thousand 220 infections and 2 million 685 thousand 458 deaths for a lethality of 2.21.
In the region of the Americas, 54 million 170 thousand 546 confirmed cases and 1 million 297 thousand 725 deaths are reported for a fatality of 2.39.
