Havana: The national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported this Monday eight deaths and 854 samples positive for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated number of 87 thousand 385 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation, Radio Habana Cuba reports.
During his usual television briefing, the specialist reported that at midnight yesterday 24,945 patients were admitted, of them 3,661 suspects, 16,322 in epidemiological surveillance and 4,962 confirmed.
Durán explained that the country carried out 21,799 samples the day before for a cumulative of 3,235,144 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of the 854 patients, 386 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 816 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 12 have a source of infection abroad and in 26 people the source of infection is unknown and 842 autochthonous cases.
Of the total confirmed, 403 are male and 441 female. Regarding the age groups, 141 patients were diagnosed under 19 years of age and 135 in pediatric ages (8 under one year). In the ages of 19 to 39 years, 267 cases were confirmed, between 40 and 59 years about 298 cases and 148 people older than 60 years.

He specified that, of the 87 thousand 385 patients diagnosed with the disease since the beginning of it, 4 thousand 962 remain admitted, of which 4 thousand 904 with stable clinical evolution. 467 deaths are reported (8 in the last day) for a fatality of 0.53. The two evacuees remain, 54 returnees and 81,900 recovered patients accumulate (1,095 discharges of the day). 33 patients in critical condition and 25 patients in serious condition are reported.
Until April 11, 190 countries and 29 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 136 million 609 thousand 969 (+ 810 thousand 58) with 23 million 865 thousand 821 active cases and 2 million 948 thousand 586 deaths (+ 13,910) for a fatality of 2.16 (=).
In the region of the Americas, 59 million 241 thousand 511 confirmed cases are reported (+ 286 thousand 515), 43.36% of the total cases reported in the world, with 9 million 289 thousand 578 active cases and 1 million 431 thousand 239 deaths (+ 8,674) for a fatality of 2.42 (+ 0.01).
