Havana: The national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported on Tuesday five deaths and 1,017 positive samples for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, for a cumulative of 84,532 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation, Radio Havana Cuba reports.
During his usual televised briefing, the specialist reported that at midnight yesterday 24,263 patients were admitted, of them 3,483 suspects, 15,668 in epidemiological surveillance and 5,112 confirmed.
Durán explained that the country carried out 21,180 samples the day before for a cumulative of 3,170,526 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of the 1,017 patients, 469 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 987 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 8 have a source of infection abroad and in 22 people the source of infection is unknown.
Of the total confirmed, 525 are male and 492 female. Regarding the age groups, under 19 years, 167 patients were diagnosed. In the ages of 19 to 39 years, 310 cases were confirmed, between 40 and 59 years about 353 cases and 187 people older than 60 years.
He specified that, of the 84 thousand 532 patients diagnosed with the disease since the beginning of it, 5 thousand 112 remain admitted, of them 5 thousand 046 with stable clinical evolution. 448 deaths are reported (5 in the last day) for a fatality of 0.53. The two evacuees remain, 54 returnees and 78,916 recovered patients accumulate (963 discharges of the day). 32 patients in critical condition and 34 patients in serious condition are reported.
