Mayabeque, Cuba: More than 700 sacks of potatoes were collected in the volunteer work day carried out in the Business Unit of Base Guinea in Melena del Sur, belonging to the Mayabeque Agricultural Company, Radio Reloj reports.
The Secretary General of the Cuban Workers’ Federation in Mayabeque, Fernando Fuentes Flores, reported that the efforts were dedicated to the Eighth Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba and May Day.
Fuentes Flores added that not only leaders and affiliates of the CTC and the Trade Unions participated in the mobilization in the Guinea Base Business Unit, but also representatives of the Young Communists League, the Cuban Women Federation, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution and the National Association of Small Farmers.
He added that in the municipalities of Mayabeque, volunteer work days are held every weekend to boost food production.
