Havana: The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today expressed satisfaction with the ideas being debated during the 8th Congress of the island’s Communist Party (PCC), which he attends as one of the 300 delegates, confirms the Latin American Agency News, Prensa Latoina (PL).
‘We are inspired. Many valuable ideas came out in the commissions. Many more are heard today. In the afternoon we have a vote, ” the president wrote on his Twitter account.
During the third day of the political meeting, the delegates approved a resolution that updated the conceptualization of the Cuban economic and social model of socialist development.
The document calls for perfecting the System of Planned Direction of Economic and Social Development and the State as rector, coordinator and regulator of all actors.
It specializes in the decentralization of powers to the territorial levels, with emphasis on the municipality as a fundamental instance.
It highlights the role of scientific and technological innovation for the economic and social development of the country.
In addition, in its morning session, Congress approved a resolution to adopt 201 guidelines on the main work directions until 2026 in order to channel the priorities of the economy.
The 8th Congress of the PCC will vote in the afternoon for the members of the Central Committee, with a mandate for the next five years.
