Havana, Cuba: At midnight yesterday, August 24, 109,920 patients were admitted, 54,741 suspects, 4,249 under surveillance and 50,930 confirmed active, the official website of MINSAP reports.
For COVID-19, a total of 50,543 samples were made for surveillance during the day, resulting in 8,637 positive. The country accumulates 7 million 634 thousand 180 samples carried out and 611 thousand 163 positive.
Of the total number of cases (8,637): 8,582 were contacts of confirmed cases; 31 with a source of infection abroad; 24 without a specified source of infection. Of the 8,637 diagnosed cases, 4,694 were female and 3,943 were male.
3.8% (330) of the 8637 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 115 thousand 891, which represents 19% of those confirmed to date.
The 8637 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years old, (1901), from 20 to 39 years old, (2331), from 40 to 59 years old (2581) and over 60 years old, (1824).

Of the 611,163 patients diagnosed with the disease, 50,930 remain hospitalized, of them 50,461 with stable clinical evolution. There are 4,806 deaths (96 in the day), fatality of 0.78% vs 2.09% in the world and 2.52% in the Americas; two evacuees, 55 returned to their countries, on the day there were 7,892 discharges, 555,370 recovered patients accumulate (90.8%). 469 confirmed patients are cared for in intensive care, of which 145 critical and 324 seriously ill.
Until August 24, 190 countries and 32 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 213 million 948 thousand 124 (+ 765 thousand 794) with 18 million 47 thousand 415 active cases and 4 million 463 thousand 919 deaths (+ 12,253) for a lethality of 2.09% (=).
