Mayabeque, Cuba: The Faculty of Medical Sciences of Mayabeque received the Barrio Award from the Hero of the Republic of Cuba and national coordinator of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo.
This special recognition highlights the work of the students, teachers and other workers of the institution in the fight against Covid-19 participating in the active investigation, in the care of patients in isolation centers and red zones, as well as in the campaign vaccination.
The award endorses the sensitivity of young people who wrote a dignified, heroic and glorious story in the face of a deadly virus that allowed them to fight for the lives of others and support vulnerable families from the neighborhood.
The award was received by the General Vice Dean of the educational institution, María Cristina Castellanos Linares and the Ideological Secretary of the University Student Federation, Armando Olivera Torres.
