The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, highlighted today the importance of the legacy of the leader Fidel Castro in the consolidation of relations between his country and Cuba, during a meeting with the vice prime minister of the island, Ricardo Cabrisas, Prensa Latina publishes.

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that the heritage of the Cuban leader is important for the ties between both nations, but also for his approaches and principles for the creation of a new, fairer order, not only for Latin America and the Caribbean, but also for the world in general.
Regarding relations between Moscow and Havana, Lavrov stressed that in recent months important meetings have taken place between representatives of the two countries and stressed that during this visit, Cabrisas will meet with senior government officials, the Russian presidency and with the authorities. of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
He stated that the Cuban vice prime minister’s work agenda shows that relations are strong, they are developing, and that nations are interacting in different areas.
The head of Russian diplomacy stressed that Moscow and Havana are aligned in the sphere of international cooperation and that they coordinate their actions within the framework of the United Nations (UN).
In this sense, it meant his last meeting in New York, United States, with the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, during the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
“Today we have the opportunity to see how we are progressing in the areas that were identified by our leaders as priorities and outline the specific steps we can take to move forward,” he said.
For his part, Cabrisas thanked Lavrov’s words in recognition of the role of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the eve of the fifth anniversary of his physical disappearance.
He also stressed the importance of Fidel’s role in the growth and continuity of bilateral relations.
At the same time, he reported that tomorrow, November 25, his delegation, together with the Cuban embassy in this country, will pay tribute to him in the square that bears his name in Moscow.
