Moscow: The spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, María Zajárova, reported on Wednesday that her government considers the departure of Russian diplomats from the United States as an expulsion because of the refusal to extend their visas and emphasized that Americans do not have the authority to dictate the parameters of departure and conclusion of mission for Russian diplomats, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
In this regard, Zajárova specified that in response to these actions, a group of American diplomats will be expelled from Russian soil.
“We view the American demand precisely as an expulsion and we intend to react accordingly. By January 31, 2022, employees of the United States Embassy in Moscow, who have been on mission for more than 3 years, should leave Russia”, the diplomat said.
“I would like to emphasize that this option is not ours,” Zajárova said, in addition to highlighting that “the American partners imposed this game on us.” “We have endeavored to persuade them to find some kind of constructive solution to the problem, but they took this step”, she said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stated that if Washington does not make concessions before July 1, 2022, a second group will have to leave Russia “in a total number commensurate with the number of Russians expelled, announced by the State Department.”
