III Plenary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

Havana, Cuba: The challenges of the economic and social reality of Cuba will continue today on the agenda of the III Plenary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (PCC), which meets in the capital’s Palacio de Convenciones, Prensa Latina publishes.

The operation of the organization, the measures for economic recovery, the improvement of the bodies of the People’s Power, the study of history and draft laws approved, are some of the topics that make up the agenda of the meeting.

The day before the first secretary of the PCC and president of the nation, Miguel Díaz-Canel, recognized the creativity of the people to get ahead in the midst of difficult conditions exacerbated by the United States blockade and the incidence of Covid-19.

In the context of the pandemic, the state budget ensured care for vulnerable people and the functioning of economic sectors, the president said.

He also referred to measures to combat inflation, among them the improvement of economic actors, the increase in offers and services and the 63 provisions to favor food production.

He also insisted on making producers and marketers aware of the need to have affordable prices in the current circumstances, as well as organizing the people in spaces of participation to achieve popular control over the issue.

Regarding the measures applied by the United States, including the inclusion of Cuba in the list of state sponsors of terrorism, he pointed out that it is an attitude that no one can believe and it also has an economic impact.

We are promoters of health, of lives saving, of giving hope to those who have the least, he said.

“They threw us to kill and they wanted to disappear us and we are alive. We do not let ourselves be overwhelmed, we resist all the attacks and in a creative way”, he stressed.

Díaz-Canel also commented that for next year the Party’s work will be centered on following its 8th Congress as a reference, held in April, and fulfilling its postulates.

The secretary of Organization and Politics of the PCC, Roberto Morales, presented the central report of the meeting, which gathers references on the exercise of the Political Bureau since the previous Plenary, last October.

“The Party continued working to comply with the agreements emanating from the 8th Congress with the premise that the PCC is increasingly democratic and participatory, ensuring ideological work and the economic battle,” Morales said.
