Havana, Cuba: At midnight yesterday, February 21, 8,740 patients were hospitalized, 5,703 suspected and 68 under surveillance, and 2,969 confirmed active.

For COVID-19, a total of 9,129 samples were taken for surveillance on the day, with 467 being positive. The country has accumulated 13,013,604 samples taken and 1,066,414 positives.

Of the total cases (467): 454 were contacts of confirmed cases; 8 with a foreign source of infection; 5 with no specified source of infection. Of the 467 diagnosed cases, 250 were female and 217 male.

6.0% (28) of the 467 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 144,892, which represents 13.6% of those confirmed to date.

The 467 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years old (97), 20 to 39 years old (109), 40 to 59 years old (151) and over 60 (110).

Pinar del Río: 10, Artemisa: 15, Havana: 17, Mayabeque: 24, Matanzas: 47, Cienfuegos: 23, Villa Clara: 34, Sancti Spíritus: 74, Camagüey: 18, Las Tunas: 23, Granma: 14, Holguín: 86, Santiago de Cuba: 5, Guantánamo: 11 and the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality: 14.

Of the 1 million 066 thousand 414 patients diagnosed with the disease, 2 thousand 969 remain hospitalized, of them 2 thousand 938 with stable clinical evolution. There are 8,491 deaths (no deaths were reported on the day), lethality of 0.80% vs 1.39% in the world and 1.79% in the Americas; two evacuees, 57 returned to their countries, on the day there were 629 discharges, accumulated 1 million 054 thousand 895 recovered patients (98.9%). 31 confirmed patients are treated in intensive care, 8 of them critical and 23 seriously ill.

As of February 21, 192 countries and 32 territories are reported with cases of COVID-19, amounting to 425 million 659 thousand 334 confirmed cases (+ 1 million 296 thousand 300) with 68 million 189 thousand 105 active cases and 5 million 909 thousand 106 deceased (+ 5 thousand 621) for a lethality of 1.39% (=).
