Mayabeque, Cuba: The situation of the sugar harvest is becoming difficult for the Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA), in the municipality of Quivicán, dedicated to the cultivation of the grass.
According to the Platoon Leader of the CPA 26 de Julio, Félix Lázaro Espinosa Rodríguez, they are facing daily problems in the field. The densest situation is found in the cane shot.
“The greatest difficulty is with the transportation. Of the five trucks that must participate in the task, only two or three do so daily,” he explained.
The responsibility falls on the base of Transmec and the little fuel allocated to them. Another of the difficulties presented so far is the level of grass present in the fields that prevents reaching some places and hinders the operation of the machines.
The platoon must cut around 200 tons of cane daily and they are below the quantified standard. To culminate the contest with about 15,800 deliveries to the plants, with a yield of 27 tons per hectare.
For the present campaign, 26 de Julio has a platoon with three combined, of which only two work.
The sugar harvest this year needs the collaboration of each of the entities that are part of it and in a united way to finish what seems to be an arduous crusade.
