Más de 108 millones 640 mil rusos estaban convocados para asistir a las urnas en todo el país, en el sexto día de votación.

Moscow: Russia accumulated 55.5 percent participation as the main day of voting in the referendum on constitutional reforms began today, the president of the Central Electoral Commission (CCE), Ella Pamfilova, reported.

According to the CCE leader, the data corresponds to the information at 10:30 local time. The figure updates the average attendance at the polls since the start of the electoral process last Friday.

To avoid the crowding of people on the official day designated for the elections, the authorities allowed early voting, in order to space the presence of people in the polling stations, in the midst of fighting against the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

More than 108 million 640 thousand Russians were called to attend the polls across the country, on the sixth day of voting.

To exercise the constitutional right, you could go to the schools, vote at home remotely or make the electronic vote (Mobile Voter).

In the case of electronic voting, this was only organized in this capital, where attendance now stands at 42.36 percent, and in the Nizhegorod province.

The electoral table of the 2151 college, located at the headquarters of the Academy of Sciences, received President Vladimir Putin early in the morning, who reiterated the previous day that only if the population pronounces in favor will the dozens of amendments proposed for the Magna Carta.

At the moment, the regions with the highest participation are Chechnya, with 84.62 percent, and the Kemerovo region, with 81.29. By contrast, the lowest attendance rate is now held by the cold Murmansk province, at 32.68 percent.

The plebiscite on the amendments to the Basic Law was due to take place on April 22 of this year, but it had to be postponed due to the containment measures against Covid-19.

In addition to aspects related to the functioning of the State, sovereignty, employment, defense of history, medical care and social aid, the amendments include the possibility that Putin has the right to stand for the presidential elections of 2024.

The president himself stated that at the moment he has nothing resolved regarding his participation in the aforementioned elections.
