Cuba Rejects Proliferation of Nuclear Tests

Havana: The Foreign Minister of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, rejected today, International Day against Nuclear Tests, the proliferation of this type of actions and the increase of funds for their development, Prensa Latina publishes.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs condemned with a message on his Twitter account the increase in ‘subcritical’ tests, a modality with which one experiments to obtain information on atomic weapons.

Similarly, the head of Cuban diplomacy expressed being alarmed by statements by the United States about “resumption of explosion tests, as well as the withdrawal from agreements on disarmament and arms control?.

The North American nation is so far the only state in the world that has used nuclear bombs twice and is a world leader in carrying out this kind of tests, denounced this week the alternate permanent representative of Cuba before the United Nations (UN bi its English initials), Ana Silvia Rodríguez.

The diplomat pointed out that by investing in this area, Washington violates the spirit and the letter of the Treaty on the Complete Ban of Nuclear Tests, the Treaty on Non-Proliferation, and does not comply with other international agreements, such as the Treaty of Nuclear Forces of Scope Intermediate and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran.
