Mayabeque, Cuba: The Liliana Dimitrova Horticultural Research Institute, located in Mayabeque, configures the lines of study for this calendar aimed at genetic improvement, the application of sustainable technologies dedicated to protected crops, post-harvest management and rural development.

In this sense, they have 13 projects inserted in national programs, as referred by the director of the center for the Master of Science, Alicia de la Caridad Fernández Miranda.

Among them, the National Program for Science and Technology, the Food Program, the Agroindustry Program and the Climate Change, Impact, Mitigation and Adaptation Program stand out.

It is also expected to obtain results with the varieties of tomato, eggplant and pepper.

Since 1994, the Liliana Dimitrova Horticultural Research Institute has been working on obtaining hybrid seeds, which are much more productive and which increase yields.

The challenge is greater due to the commitment that exists in contributing to import substitution.
