Valdés Mesa visited agricultural areas in Mayabeque.

Mayabeque, Cuba: The Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, led a working visit to Mayabeque this Saturday, where he verified the progress in the food production program.

In an exchange with the farmers, Valdés Mesa verified the compliance with the measures indicated in his previous visit related to the production of food for the people.

The also member of the Political Bureau of the Party thanked the international solidarity, but stressed that the responsibility of complying with the 30 pounds per capita of food, vegetables, grains, fruits and vegetables, must fall on the shoulders of Agriculture.

The Cuban Vice President urged to use science and technology to increase agri-food production, when touring agricultural areas of the province.

The recovery of cultivable areas around the national highway belonging to the municipalities of Nueva Paz and San Nicolás interested Valdés Mesa when he arrived in the territory.

The Cuban Vice President also interacted with producers of rice, sugarcane and various crops with the purpose of diversifying the crops at the service of the people based on novel techniques.

The progress of the repairs to the animal feed plant of the Héctor Molina plant also focused the exchange, as a premise to develop the pig program.

During Valdés Mesa’s visit to Mayabeque, the compliance with sanitary protocols, the supplies of products in state sales points, as well as the checking of the preparation of food for gastronomy and its commercialization were also addressed.
