Moscow: Venezuelan and Russian authorities advocated strengthening their countries’ cooperation in various fields, through their parliaments, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
During a meeting held in Moscow, the Venezuelan Ambassador to Cuba, Adán Chávez, and the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Riabkov, agreed on the need to continue expanding relations between both countries.
“In addition to strengthening relations through our governments, we are making the necessary contacts for direct relationships and strengthening work through our executive systems, that is, our deputies,” Chávez stressed.
The Venezuelan official acknowledged that the necessary contacts have been made to strengthen the bilateral relationship with the members of the new Duma (Lower House of Parliament) of Russia.
Chávez, special envoy of the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, reported that, during the meeting, aspects related to the next bi-national meeting, progress in cooperation projects and the possibility of new projects in “important” areas such as energy, health, education or food were addressed.
Chávez described the meeting as “extremely important” and highlighted the need to “strengthen ties” to “continue to confront the attempts of US imperialism to end our revolutions and the happiness of the peoples.”
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a message published the same day on Twitter, highlighted Moscow’s support for “the solution of differences in Venezuela through an inclusive dialogue between all the country’s political forces.”
Diplomatic relations between Russia and Venezuela were established on March 14, 1945 and after the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías to the presidency of the South American country in 1999, the ties between the authorities of both nations show respect and friendship for him. welfare of both countries.
