Mexico: The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, expressed his rejection of the policies dictated by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which in his opinion, are responsible for the “world crisis”, together with the neoliberal governments that implemented the recipes dictated by the body.
According to Radio Habana Cuba, during his morning conference, the president was questioned by local media about the recent observation made by the IMF regarding the losses presented by the state-owned Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and the necessary “postponement of plans for new refineries.” to use those resources for other more productive purposes.
“I do not believe in their policies, they caused the economic and social decline in the world. They are responsible for the world crisis, those of the International Monetary Fund and other international financial organizations,” López Obrador responded.
The president pointed out that the greatest responsibility lies with the neoliberal governments that submitted to these policies, because the IMF sent its recommendations and these “were applied in the countries to the letter,” the chief executive explained.
After the president’s criticism of the IMF, the head of the Ministry of Energy (Sener) of Mexico, Rocío Nahle, joined the discussion on her Twitter account.
“Today Mexico does not submit to policies like those issued by the IMF, those recipes or recommendations caused poverty, delay and a decline in the economy in many countries,” Nahle said.
The Secretary of Energy expressed her support for the Dos Bocas (Veracruz) refinery project, which once it is completed in June 2022, could process about 340 thousand barrels of crude per day, according to the estimates of López Obrador government. .
