Canada: The Parliament of Canada registered a petition to support Cuba that asks the United States Government to end economic sanctions, subversion campaigns and hostility against the Caribbean country, Prensa Latina publishes.

The initiative, officially established by Professor Isaac Saney on behalf of the Canadian Network of Solidarity with Cuba, was sponsored by Niki Ashton, member of the federal Parliament for the province of Manitoba.

According to a statement, it is suggested that the Government of Canada also request the United States to remove the Island from its arbitrary and unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

Finally, the statement declares that Canadians know the Cuban people, of their struggles to defend their independence and overcome the blockade imposed by the United States, which constitutes the main obstacle to development and the exercise of their right to live in peace.
