Tehran: Iran and the 4+1 group (United Kingdom, France, Russia and China plus Germany) will resume next Monday the talks aimed at reactivating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear agreement, Hispan TV said today.
The announcement was made by the European Union (EU) Deputy Head of Foreign Policy, Enrique Mora, in a message on social networks.
The talks in Vienna, Austria, will be resumed on December 27, he said.
A meeting of the CPA Joint Commission is also scheduled to discuss and define, he said, the key issues of the talks.
Mora considered it transcendental to work closely with the United States, inasmuch as the nuclear pact entered into crisis since the illegal US exit in May 2018.
After that abandonment, Washington imposed a so-called maximum pressure policy with coercive anti-Iranian measures, to which Tehran responded with maximum resistance and reduced its nuclear obligations.
The negotiations in the Austrian capital resumed on November 29, after a five-month pause to make way for the Iranian presidential elections and the assumption of power by the winner of those elections, Ebrahim Raeisi.
The government of the Islamic republic reiterated that its objective in the nuclear dialogue is the lifting of US sanctions, the only condition, they pointed out, for the United States to return to the multilateral agreement signed in 2015.
