Mayabeque, Cuba: Expressive and depressing faces, intimate gazes that reveal the traces of the history of men through several generations are reflected in the personal exhibition Los Condenados de la Tierra (The Wretched of the Earth), recently inaugurated in the provincial art gallery.

The visual artist Eduardo de la Cruz Guerra uses recyclable materials such as cardboard, boards, metals, carbon and others in which he combines a variety of shades of grey, black and red, in 10 works to reveal emotions, gestures and sensations that invite reflection.

Eduardo de la Cruz Guerra explained that The Wretched of the Earth is the second series of a great project called Portrait of a Civilization. ?It is an experimental work that relates a bit about the roots, the traditions of our African culture?, he highlighted.

Artistic manifestations were intertwined at the opening of this exhibition, through performance and the playing of the tumbadora, a musical instrument deeply rooted in Afro-Cuban culture.
