Beijing: China today expressed rejection of the United States’ remarks about the human rights situation here, and also of its development and aspirations in the space sector, Prensa Latina publishes.
Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the 2021 US report on human rights is riddled with political lies and ideological prejudice towards the Asian giant.
He considered it another example of hypocrisy and double standards of the northern country, because while pretending to be a world judge it has “debts and crimes both at home and abroad.”
The spokesman mentioned existing problems on US soil, such as the high number of deaths and infections due to the mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation of discriminatory policies in the field of migration, violence with weapons, and inhumane treatment in prisons.
He denounced that with the search for hegemony, the White House started wars and subversive actions in different countries of the world, leading to the displacement of large waves of refugees and the death of thousands of people.
He also criticized the recurring use of sanctions and other measures to pressure other nations, as well as the existence of a network of secret prisons where inmates are detained and tortured without even being charged.
“What the United States must do is immediately stop the accusations, stop attacking the human rights of other countries and examine itself (…) to improve its own situation,” he said.
On the other hand, Zhao refuted Washington’s determination to consider the activities of China and Russia in outer space a threat, and specified that in this way it seeks to create an excuse to develop its military power and guarantee hegemony in that sector.
?This is another manifestation of clinging to the cold war mentality and evading responsibility. The United States is the greatest danger to the security of outer space. His government openly defined it as a combat field, accelerated the establishment of a special force and (?) deployed offensive weapons?, he remarked.
The official pointed out the peaceful nature of China’s space program, indicated that it responds to its socioeconomic, technological and security needs, and demanded that the White House stop throwing accusations at him.
