Mayabeque, Cuba: Mayabeque Sugar Company, along with that of Cienfuegos and Sancti Spíritus, excel in complying with the more than 64,000 hectares of cane planted in the country during the first half of the year.
The President of the AZCUBA Business Group, Julio Andrés García Pérez, said that in order to have a successful harvest in 2021, it is vital to plant as much cane as possible in the months of June to September.
That premise rests on the fact that today only 17 percent of the sugarcane area in Cuba is under irrigation. To fulfill the productive commitments agreed for this period, it is necessary to make the most of the rainy season.
The AZCUBA Business Group of the Greater Antilles has 54 mills, 10 refineries, 12 distilleries, as well as other facilities for by-products and derivatives.
