Havana: The return of students to classrooms in most of Cuba, and the implementation of restrictive measures in Havana and other territories to confront Covid-19, marked the news week that ends today, Prensa Latina publishes.

Last Tuesday, September 1, the school year, interrupted on March 24 by the scourge of the epidemic, was resumed in almost the entire island in the face to face modality, for which organizational and sanitary measures were taken, and rigorous epidemiological control is maintained .

Classes continued in 147 municipalities and in 21 are pending, including 15 in Havana, which did so through television classes.

This Thursday the Ministers of Education and Higher Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez and José Ramón Saborido, respectively, described the return to the classroom as satisfactory.

In the case of the Cuban capital, with the highest number of infections in the country and a complex situation due to the dispersion of positive cases to Covid-19, since August 31, new measures have been implemented to reduce mobility and favor social isolation.

In addition to the strengthening of health surveillance and epidemiological control, restrictions were established on the mobility of people and vehicles, and the suspension of interprovincial transfers for tourist reasons, vacations or other causes.

The plan of measures limits the hours of operation of shops and businesses, decrees the closure of work centers, production centers and non-essential services, and establishes severe fines against offenders.

According to the highest authorities of the city, at the end of the 15-day term envisaged for these provisions, the situation will be evaluated and the relevance of maintaining some of them and even implementing others will be determined.

The hope of achieving a definitive solution to the situation took another step forward last Tuesday with the incorporation of a second group of volunteers, this time between 60 and 80 years of age, to the clinical trials of one of the four Cuban vaccine candidates against Covid-19, Soberana01.
