Mayabeque, Cuba: From this Thursday, January 14, the school year will be paralyzed in the 34 municipalities of the country, which are in the phase of Limited Autochthonous Transmission, although some schools had already closed at the request of the territories themselves.

Within these 34 municipalities are four from the Mayabeque province, Güines, San Nicolás, Madruga and Santa Cruz del Norte, localities where other closure measures are already applied.

During the day on Wednesday, students can attend schools to receive orientation and collect their books.

The Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, considered that it has been very rigorous with the indication that teachers, workers and students cannot attend schools if they are sick or if they are a contact of a traveler or confirmed case.

The owner also pointed out that they already have a proposal on how the course will continue in these territories from next week with the use of the Havana Channel and the Educational Channel for tele-classes.

She will also discuss with child care centers. These will not be closed in their entirety due to the need to care for the children of workers who belong to sectors such as Public Health, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior and others that require that their institutions remain open.
