Havana, Cuba: The national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported this Wednesday 12 deaths and 1,400 positive samples for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated of 161 thousand 997 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation, according to the information published in the website of that entity.
During his usual press conference, the specialist reported that at the midnight yesterday 31 thousand 386 patients were admitted, of them 5 thousand 946 suspects, 17 thousand 815 in epidemiological surveillance and 7 thousand 625 confirmed assets.
Durán explained that the country carried out 19,791 samples for a cumulative of 4 million 677 thousand 671 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of the 1,400 patients, 568 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 1,270 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 73 have a source of infection abroad and in 60 people the source of contagion is unknown and 1,330 autochthonous.
Of the total confirmed, 663 are male and 740 female. Regarding the age groups, 223 children under 19 years of age were diagnosed, and 202 in pediatric ages (7 under one year of age). There are 1,010 active hospitalized patients. In the ages of 19 to 39 years, 452 cases were confirmed, between 40 and 59 years about 474 cases and 254 people older than 60 years.

The expert specified that, of the 161 thousand 997 patients diagnosed with the disease since the beginning of it, 7 thousand 625 confirmed hospitalizations, of them 7 thousand 440 with stable clinical evolution. 1,118 deaths are reported (12 in the last day) for a fatality of 0.69. The two evacuees remain, 54 returnees and 153,198 recovered patients accumulate (1,184 discharges of the day). 67 critically ill patients and 88 severe ill patients are reported.
Until June 15, 190 countries and 30 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 177 million 211 thousand 539 (+ 309 thousand 501) with 11 million 764 thousand 91 active cases and 3 million 832 thousand 584 deaths (+ 10 thousand 66) for a fatality of 2.16 (=).
