Mayabeque, Cuba: The workers of the Entomophagous and Enteropathogens Reproductive Center of Batabanó take certain steps in the production of biological media for agriculture, especially in the spring season where their products are used in 100 percent of the plantations.
During this stage, the group has guaranteed a production of 9.5 tons of natural insecticides to combat mites, aphids, fungi and other pests that affect corn, rice, sweet potato, cassava, pumpkin and minor vegetables such as cucumber, beans, prioritized crops in this period.
Every year more people come to CREE. The director of the center, Jorge Hernández, stressed that the training of farmers is of great help so that not only in the municipality they covet their productions but in the entire province.
To fulfill this purpose and meet the high demand, the unit achieves a production of 25 tons of biological media every year. The trained personnel of this laboratory carry out constant research work and are in charge of the study and behavior of pests and diseases that attack different crops.
