Havana: Cuba reported this Thursday 8,194 people with Covid-19 and 73 deaths in the last 24 hours as a result of the disease.
In a television appearance, the national director of epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), Dr. Francisco Durán, specified that at midnight this Wednesday there were 95,515 people admitted, 47,129 suspects, 4,314 under surveillance and 44,072 confirmed positives.
He explained that 44,026 samples were processed during the day, for a cumulative 7,018,227 since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 and 441,904 (7.0%) total positive samples.
Of the cases, 8175 are autochthonous, 44 without a specified source of infection and 19 (0.23%) imported from Russia (14), Spain (2), the United States (2) and France (1).
Meanwhile, 8,131 (99, 23) are contacts of confirmed cases and 4.7% were asymptomatic (385).
By age groups: 1571 are under 20 years of age, of which 1473 are pediatric ages (7 infants and 56 with less than six months); patients from 20 to 39 years: 2415; 40 to 59 years 2656

There are 3 757 deaths (73 in the day), fatality of 0.76% vs 2.11% in the world and 2.57% in the Americas; two evacuees, 54 returned to their countries, on the day there were 9,432 discharges (232 more), 444 thousand 019 recovered patients accumulate (90.3%). 484 confirmed patients are cared for in intensive care, of which 179 critical and 305 severe.
Until August 11, 190 countries and 32 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 205 million 145 thousand 247 (+ 664 thousand 146) with 16 million 578 thousand 507 active cases and 4 million 333 thousand 128 deaths ( + 10 thousand 835) for a fatality of 2.11% (=).
