Marrero also drew attention to the environmental challenges facing the world, aggravated by the incidence of climate change, and highlighted the interest of countries in the development of sustainable economies.
In this regard, he stated that Cuba promotes exchange in the energy sector, particularly in the development of renewable energy sources.
“We reiterate our interest in expanding cooperation through the exchange of experiences and best practices, in the establishment, administration and development of wind and photovoltaic parks, as well as the use of other sources”, he pointed out.
The Cuban minister warned that such proposals correspond to the Eurasian bloc’s plans to launch climate projects that are beneficial to all parties and jointly create its own technologies based on carbon-free energy sources.
He said that in this way, the UEE would be contributing to mitigation and adaptation actions to climate change and to the preservation of the environment in general.
He assured that there are many areas for cooperation, which requires the active participation of the banking and financial systems of the member countries of the bloc, including the Eurasian Development Bank.
In this regard, he indicated that as soon as it is considered Cuba is ready to begin exchanges.
He ratified the commitment of the largest of the Antilles with the implementation of the strategic guidelines for the development of the Eurasian economic integration until 2025 and the fulfillment of the Joint Collaboration Plan 2021-2026 for the execution of the Memorandum of Understanding between Cuba and the Commission Eurasian Economic.
The Cuban prime minister expressed his conviction that together with the UEE, the Caribbean island can advance towards another stage in the integration process. “For this we reiterate our willingness to contribute to the achievement of these goals,” he emphasized.
