Mayabeque, Cuba: Mayabeque is among the Cuban provinces with the most potato production and in this sense the territory intensifies the work during the cold season to achieve higher yields in this and other crops.
According to the director of Various Crops in the Mayabeque Agroforestry Group, Carlos Suárez Álvarez, they comply with the plan to date at 95 percent and forecast superior results at the end of the year.
For this, they took into account the preparation or clearing of the plantations, the use of irrigation machinery and the optimization of the essential products for the harvest.
The objective is to self-supply the province and supply viands, vegetables, grains and fruits to the capital of the country.
Melena del Sur, Batabanó, Quivicán and Güines are among the municipalities with the best results.
