Havana, Cuba: The IV Ibero-American Summit on Accessible Tourism will meet from today in the Cuban capital, with the participation of service providers, public organizations and universities, among other actors, Prensa Latina publishes.
Speakers from 14 countries, with representation from the five continents, will participate in this event, hosted by the National Hotel, to share experiences in working with people with disabilities and eliminate barriers of different kinds so that they can enjoy a full tourist experience.
As part of the meeting, ministers and representatives of the national accessible tourism networks of Ibero-American countries will have a meeting on this first day, with a view to approving the Declaration of Havana for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism in Ibero-America.
The document has been in preparation since 2016 with international organizations and intends that what has been achieved does not remain in words, but in deeds, the president of the Ibero-American Network of Accessible Tourism, Diego González, said recently.
The summit aims to forge strong partnerships between public officials, the private sector and organizations of persons with disabilities, as well as the promotion of knowledge on these issues.
Havana was chosen as its headquarters due to the determined work of Cuba to promote this modality within the travel industry, an objective for which there is a strong interplay of institutions in the country.
In the context of this event, the Hotel Nacional will receive the universal accessibility certification, which accredits the facility to serve this market segment.
According to González, it is one of the accommodations in the region with the best benefits to serve those with motor, hearing, visual or other difficulties.
